On one level Rambo blu-ray delivers what you’re expecting: hard-to-hear dialogue married to hard-to-watch action. But this outing is uncomfortably gruesome and blatantly manipulative. Despite grander aspirations, only leather-tough mayhem-lovers will be satisfied Fans of the first three Rambo movies will likely love it, as will fans of irony, absurdity and unintentional comedy. Just like the actor playing him, our hero no longer looks or acts like his predecessor. Oddly enough, as long as he covers his tracks in the entrails of his enemies, we could really care less. This is Rambo for a new generation–bigger, more violent, and yet somehow a little smarter and nuanced too. Its not high art, but who expects that from a Rambo movie to begin with? Stallone knows his audience and he doesnt disappoint. You get exactly what you pay for, including graphic violence without much dialogue. This is the Schindlers List of B-list butchery.
